What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of relaxation. It is not a state of sleep or unconsciousness. When you are in a relaxed state, you are able to focus within, where all the records of this life and past lives are stored. Through hypnosis, you can access this information. While in this relaxed state of heightened awareness, you are in full control of yourself and fully aware of your environment at all times. Your morals or ethics can never be compromised. The hypnotherapist is simply a facilitator.
People go in and out of the hypnotic state of mind every day. The following are examples of daily hypnosis:
Daydreaming, reading, watching a movie or television, playing video games – you tune out everything around you and focus your relaxed concentration on a specific thought.
Any time you move from an outward perception to an inner awareness, you enter a state of hypnosis. Hypnosis puts you in charge of your natural ability to go “within.”
The process of relaxation alters the brainwaves from Beta (active brainwaves during thinking, analyzing and talking) to a low Alpha or high Theta (slower, calmer brainwaves).
What does hypnosis feel like?
Hypnosis is the relaxation where muscles, nerves and the mind relax. Some describe it as feeling passive or mellow, where others feel as if they are filled with light or surprised by new perception. When in hypnosis, there is often a distinct experience of automatic, spontaneous thought or action as compared to the feeling you get with conscious choice. When a hypnosis session ends, people report feeling at peace with everything.
Hypnosis is a common and varied experience. Each hypnotic experience may be different from what you expect or from the last one you experienced. This makes sense considering you aren’t in the same frame of mind all of the time. Your friend’s experience may be different from yours. Hypnosis is personal. It’s like a fingerprint in that it is unique to you.
Hypnosis looks different than it feels. From an observing position, you may look like you are asleep or unconscious. In actuality, when you are in a state of hypnosis, you are keenly aware of everything going on around you. It’s unlikely you will “feel” anything except a sense of relaxation. This keen focus may leave you feeling like you didn’t do anything particularly unusual, because you experience this relaxed state every day and it feels so familiar.
What should I expect during a session?
Most clients choose to recline in a comfortable chair. A few choose to sit up. It doesn’t matter what position you are in as long as you can relax. There will be guided visualization with calming background music. The guided visualization helps you to reach a deeper level of relaxation and will be used to reach a prior life. You are completely aware of who you are and where you are throughout the session. Like watching a good movie, you will focus on the memory of a past life, temporarily not focused on where you are. But just like watching a good movie, if your focus is interrupted, you clearly know who you are and where you are. It takes approximately an hour, although most report feeling like it took less than half an hour.
What should I expect after the session?
You will feel refreshed as if you woke up from a great nap. You will easily remember details of the session and memories. Many people report being a state of heightened awareness. Many people have additional memories when they are in a relaxed state, whether it’s the same day, the same week, all the way up to a year or more after the session. Once a memory is released, it becomes part of your conscious memory and therefore can be accessed in the future.
There are a few people who feel as if they “made it all up” because the memories came so easily. However, in retrospect, most of those people report that it felt very real.
